Introduction
to Higher Ground
Higher Ground is a journey
of hope!
Through applying the
truth of scripture, working the 12-steps, and sharing in fellowship with
other people in recovery, Higher Ground participants let go of past hurts,
triumph over current problems, and learn to depend on God.
Higher Ground is a bridge
— between the traditional 12-step programs and the Church. People
who are searching for their Higher Power need Jesus. People who struggle
with addictions, compulsions and codependency need 12-step recovery programs.
Everyone is Welcome
Anyone is welcome to Higher Ground
meetings.
We provide support groups for men and women of all ages.
The support group participants, whatever
their need, find the extra care and encouragement necessary to grow beyond
the wounds of life’s battles, the difficulties in family relationships,
the bondage of addictive habits and behaviors, and the isolation caused
by shame. Higher Ground meetings are filled with the faith, hope, and love that only
Go can provide through Christ.
Who attends Higher Ground ?
• Church members who need a safe place
to share the truth about their lives – their problems, struggles,
and recovery needs.
• New Believers who still struggle
with past hurts, old habits, and the consequences of sinful behavior –
forgiven, but not forgotten.
• Christian visitors from outside the
church who are familiar with other twelve-step recovery programs but who
seek association with Christians who name Jesus Christ as their Higher
Power.
• Visitors, both Christian and non-Christian, who have yet to
trust Christ and may not feel comfortable in a formal worship service,
yet they seek personal recovery in the anonymous support group environment
of Higher Ground meetings. Countless visitors have come to Higher Ground
meetings to seek recovery help, and discover the power of Jesus Christ
and the salvation He offers.
